Interview: TV Host and Lifestyle Expert, Lucy Norris

A must meet On Camera Correspondent, Lifestyle Expert and Fashion Influencer who’s passion is to inform, entertain and enrich by highlighting the brands that do well and do good. Lucy Norris has close to ten years of experience in multiple facets of television, ranging from program development and packaging to directing and producing.

Lucy’s experience and versatility as an anchor has led her to the marketing and branding sector of the industry. Alongside hosting, Lucy works with small businesses and start-up companies to advise them on advertising strategies and marketing efforts – specifically focusing on visual content and distribution.

I got to sit down with her and ask some questions about the industry.

How did you get started in doing what you do now?

I began working as an On Camera Host in London for a live TV show called Fame TV. It served as a great foundation for my skills as a presenter and from then on l discovered a passion for being myself in front of the camera. I have spent the last 10 years working for a number of TV shows, channels, and live stream platforms as an Anchor and Correspondent in New York.

As the demand for video content continued to grow in my industry I realized that there was a need for a consulting service that would really help to enhance innovators and entrepreneurs on-camera presence for digital media kits and marketing pitches. It was at that point, that I formed "On Camera Presence Media Training"

Why do you enjoy working with entrepreneurs and startups?

I'm inspired by the passion that drives entrepreneurs and at the same time, I love discovering more about the innovations and products that they are creating.

Working as a consultant with start-up companies is rewarding and seeing them grow because of digital content that they create is really exciting!

What are your 3 favorite tools for doing [something your audience cares about]?

Using video on social media is a great way to connect with your audience. The content helps to form conversations and also gather information on what consumers want and need from different markets.

I'm also passionate about networking opportunities, but instead of attending one that you are invited to, I believe it's a great tool to host the networking opportunity through using your own resources. And finally, independent projects outside of your main area of interest really helps to broaden your reach and perspective on future content you can create.

Is work/life balance a myth? Can you name a few healthy tips?

I think work/life balance is a work in progress. As an entrepreneur, you are always innovating and adapting to change in order to keep up with fast-growing industries.

I'm still trying to find the answer on how to achieve this but I believe that short weekends away to re-energize are very helpful. It's important to try to remain present and digital free when spending quality time with your family and friends is extremely helpful.

Talk about the biggest failure you've had. What did you learn from it?

The biggest failure I ever had turned out to be the biggest opportunity. An end to a career in London became the start of my profession in New York.

What keeps you going when things get tough in your business?

My journey has been far from simple or easy, so when I look back I like to take notice of how hard I have worked, where I have come from and then I stay focused on where I am heading next. That keeps me going when things get tough.

What's your next move in your industry?

OCP Media Training will be offering workshops focusing on public speaking as well as on-camera training. We are also very excited to be partnering with larger companies in the near future.

As an On Camera Host I will be continuing my video series as a Consumer Trends Expert and also be moderating multiple events in the lifestyle sector.

Tell us something interesting we should know about you?

I'm a British vegetarian who has lived in Japan and Cyprus. I'm passionate about sustainable fashion and have an obsession with TED Talks and cheese. If any of those topics interest you, I'm accessible and always excited to talk more about future collaborations or partnerhsips.
